Kidnapped, Tortured and Killed
Mahogany Jackson, a 20-year-old Birmingham mother, endured unimaginable torture before being fatally shot. Det. Green’s testimony in court provided a detailed and harrowing account of Jackson’s final hours. Jackson was abducted, assaulted, and sexually violated by individuals she knew. The violent ordeal began at Pope’s home on McMillon Avenue, where Jackson was stripped, stomped, and spit on after allegedly confronting the group about a stolen gun and money. Videos recorded by the suspects captured the horrific events as they unfolded.
She was then taken to Serenity Apartments, where the physical and sexual abuse continued. Det. Green testified that Jackson was forced at gunpoint to perform sexual acts on multiple individuals while being restrained in handcuffs. In one video, Jackson was seen being forced into a bathroom and told to clean herself. Throughout the brutal attacks, the suspects recorded her suffering, showing a complete disregard for her humanity.
The testimony revealed that the group had no intention of allowing Jackson to leave alive. Jackson was later transported in a vehicle with Harris, Pope, and McDowell, who told her they were headed to “Dead Man’s Road” to clean the vehicle. Once there, Harris shot Jackson in the back of the head. Her body was found under two mattresses near the woods, with a gunshot wound and signs of the extreme violence she endured.
The suspects now face multiple charges, including capital murder during a kidnapping and sexual assault. The case has drawn significant attention due to the senseless brutality Jackson suffered and the disturbing details recorded by the perpetrators.
